As a self confessed digital hoarder, my practise draws together pop culture references found on the internet and snippets of text I've been collecting from a number of sources. Combining imagery with shapes and tone traditionally associated with comic books, the celebrities in my work become the subject of false realities, taking on the role of a fictionalised character. Like the subject of a teenage obsession, or idolism, they become the subjects of a incoherent, unknown comic.

The loveseat emerged as a result of thinking about language and humour, how to explore this also in the context of comic books, replicating the 3D effect that text was often depicted during the pop-art movement.

Final work

Three drawings stacked horizontally, top and bottom ones on cream coloured paper and middle a circular piece of wood.
  • Two tone image of a woman wearing sunglasses surrounded by a thought bubble, on cream coloured paper.
  • Two tone drawing of a woman looking away on a circular piece of wood tilted at an angle.
  • Two tone portrait of a woman looking down surrounded by an incomplete circle on cream coloured paper.
Landscape photo of gallery with wooden 3D version of the word 'love', horizontal stack of drawings, and surrounding works.
