I’m ZiXin ,a textile designer graduate from CSM textile design. My practice is deeply rooted in personal observation and emotional expression. Drawing inspiration from daily life and subtle interpersonal moments, I often explore themes of pressure, comfort, and release.I value a balance between conceptual depth and tactile experience, and I hope to create pieces that quietly speak to the viewer’s own emotional landscapes.

This project was inspired by everyday life and the growing number of people who smoke as a way to cope with stress. Through observing the behavior of people around me, I realized that smoking often becomes a quiet ritual of emotional release. Rather than focusing on smoking culture itself, I explore the feelings behind it — pressure, relief, and personal space. Using elements like smoke, ash, and burn, I translate these emotions into tactile textile expressions, aiming to create an atmosphere that feels soft, intimate, and subtly interactive.

Final work

A soft, knit textile piece featuring layered smoke-like patterns in grey, beige, and black, with a semi-transparent texture and floating edges.

A soft, fluffy textile piece with a plush texture, designed for use as a blanket, wall hanging, or cushion cover in a home setting.
A small, ash-textured textile piece designed as a coaster or decorative object, inspired by the appearance of cigarette ash.
