This project is a modular sofa inspired by kedai runcit, traditional Malaysian convenience stores that serve as vibrant neighbourhood hubs. The design draws from the physical journey through these shops—from the toy capsule machines often placed outside, to the rolling shutters at the storefront, and finally to the shelving systems stacked deep inside. Each part of the sofa reflects this sequence: the front modules feature playful forms and bold colours, the backrest echoes the industrial shutter patterns, and the rear incorporates open storage inspired by shop racks.

The furniture is designed as an experiential piece—offering both function and narrative. By abstracting familiar visual cues from the kedai runcit environment, the sofa transforms into a sculptural reminder of these fading communal spaces, bringing elements of cultural memory into the home.
