# Project Description Urban Loom Yudi Wang Summary Final work College Camberwell College of Arts Course MA Interior And Spatial Design Graduation year 2024 The emotional connection between cities and their inhabitants is gradually weakening. My project focuses on small urban spaces, which are flexible and adaptable, as an entry point to rebuild this bond. These spaces encourage serendipitous encounters, social interactions, and memorable experiences, fostering deeper emotional ties to the city. Starting with street markets, which already attract diverse users, I designed flexible, modular structures using 1m x 1m grids. By combining scaffolding with weaving techniques involving metal, nylon, and polyester, these structures are quick to assemble and adaptable to various needs. They activate public spaces and promote engagement, encouraging individuals to connect with their environment and each other. Through pilot practices in street markets, this project aims to inspire the revitalization of underutilized small urban spaces, creating opportunities for connection, participation, and a renewed sense of urban belonging.
