The project explores female’s role in a family — housewife. Housewives repeat the same work everyday to keep everything in order and in place. It is to keep everything in balance. I started by looking into Csilla Klenyanszki’s work. By placing the body in relation to traditional domestic objects, she illustrates the role of women in society and home. The unstable performances, demonstrate the constant work required to maintain a semblance of peace. Then I connected the idea of “balance” with aerial hoop where it is maintained through the use of muscles in different parts of the body. By developing the prototype, I ended up with shapes inspired by mobius loops. In this stage, I looked at Mariko Mori’s mobius loop artwork, more sculptures and architectures. In order to show the diversity of women other than the housewives, I researched into draped garments on the greek sculptures, which connects the women to the goddess. I will then experiment draping with different soft fabrics.

Final work
