# Project Description Echoes of the Sea Spirit Yilin Chai Summary Final work College School of Pre-Degree Studies Course UAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Design Graduation year 2025 My work is about the Jingwei of Shan Hai Jing and belongs to protective jewelry. Jingwei is a divine beast from China. She was originally the daughter of Emperor Yan. After playing in the sea, she was buried there and transformed into Jingwei. She turned her grief and anger into strength and attempted to fill the sea with stones. I created this piece using the enamel imitation technique and adopted the shape of seabird feathers. I incorporate the spirit of Jingwei into my works, hoping that she can protect the people at sea.
