Yijia Zhang

"Ephemera" is a series of five interconnected jewellery pieces that visualize a symbolic passage through a death journey we often comfort ourselves and others with, imagining our loved ones living happily in another world. Inspired by this hopeful fantasy, the project constructs a narrative of departure, where each piece represents a gifts exchanged: a present from the deceased, a funeral wreath, judge encountered in the afterlife, and a protective amulet meant to accompany the departed.
