# Project Description 'The Grow' Interior Weave Design Yifang Wei Summary Final work I am a textile designer currently based in the UK and China. Since childhood, I have been influenced by my family and developed a strong interest in combining traditional weaving with modern techniques. I have a unique drawing style inspired by natural and traditional elements, and I excel at transforming illustrations into patterns. I have been continuously experimenting and researching how to coordinate yarns, patterns, and structures to show the characteristics of weaving crafts. College Central Saint Martins Course BA (Hons) Textile Design Graduation year 2025 The inspiration for my collection ‘ The Grow’ came from memories of my grandmother and mother building and growing their gardens. These memories sparked my deep interest in nurturing plants, meanwhile, sharing gardening experiences has become a way for three generations in my family to connect. Through conversations with them, I discovered that each person has different connections to their gardens. By visiting community gardens, I further discovered that humans create their gardens in unique ways, interact with them, and gain personal fulfilment from the experience. I want to use my designs to capture the memories, connections, and emotional investments that people have with their gardens. My target market focus on soft furnishings—specifically upholstery for chair pads, table mats and coasters for dining tables and side tables. My customers are those who appreciate aesthetics in interior décor, love nature and seek to bring the elements indoors to enhance their sense of well-being. Research and process Moodboard Development: Windings and Colours Windings is one of the main development methods I use. Through it, I can transform the drawings from my primary research into yarns of different colors and materials, and also observe how these yarns work together when combined.
