# Project Description "Crossing Binary" Yi Zhang Summary Final work For the Future For the Future College London College of Fashion Course BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Development Graduation year 2025 The collection explores the tension between gender, authority, and personal identity through the lens of power dressing. Inspired by my mother’s experience working under rigid corporate dress codes in a Japanese company, the collection deconstructs the traditional suit—a symbol of control and professionalism—through the eyes of a male designer creating womenswear. Each look reflects a nuanced response to societal expectations: neither overtly masculine nor submissively feminine, but suspended in an in-between space. Structured tailoring, interrupted seams, and shifts in proportion embody the struggle to conform, resist, and reclaim agency through clothing.
