Final work

I am a Chinese designer with a background in industrial product design. I aim to create designs that bring joy and help people build positive, meaningful relationships with things like the fresh connection in friendship and love that inspires hope for the future. My design journey began at Wuhan University of Technology, and studying at Central Saint Martins nurtured my critical thinking and social awareness. In the future, I hope to craft impactful, warm experiences that foster better, more meaningful interactions between people and the world.

《The Green Lie》aims to reveal the phenomena of functionality loss and false advertising in eco-friendly products, prompting consumers to reflect on the actual functions and materials of these products and promoting the sustainable development of eco-design. The project is inspired by the designer’s observations of consumer attitudes and behaviors toward eco-friendly products during work. Faced with consumers’ hesitation to purchase these products, the designer conducted in-depth research into the phenomenon of “greenwashing” and discovered that some eco-products suffer from functional shortcomings and material deception. The project features a series of visually satirical works layered to reflect how so-called eco-friendly products in the market conceal functionality deficiencies and material flaws. It closely aligns with contemporary issues, focusing on the causes and impacts of market greenwashing. In the future, the designer hopes to use such designs to raise public awareness of rational consumption and to promote industry toward more genuine and sustainable development.

Barbell Set

Design Philosophy: The sports series aims to reveal the lack of functionality hidden beneath the "eco-friendly" facade and the phenomenon of certain products sacrificing practicality in pursuit of "green" status. The sports category was chosen because its high demand for functionality highlights that environmentally friendly products should prioritize functionality and facilitates the completion of satire. The barbell is a product that guarantees interactivity and typicality. Through the design of three barbells, this theme is presented progressively, highlighting the impact of material selection on user experience and sustainability.

Pen Set

Design Philosophy: The stationery series focuses on revealing the material defects concealed behind eco-labels, and the phenomenon of some products sacrificing practicality in order to attract consumers. The stationery category was chosen because its popularity should place greater emphasis on material durability – frequent daily use makes it easier to expose material problems; at the same time, writing tools are also a heavily affected area of "greenwashing." The design of the three pens presents this theme progressively, highlighting the contradictions between material selection, structural design, and usage experience.

Knife Set

Design Philosophy: The kitchenware series aims to expose the behavior of "eco-friendly" products misleading consumers through visual deception of varying degrees. The selection of the kitchenware category is due to its close connection with personal dietary health, where consumers pay more attention to health promises and are easily deceived by exaggerated advertising. Knives have strong interactivity, and the experience is easier for viewers to discover problems. Through the design of three knives, this series explores consumers' cognitive biases toward "eco-friendly" products and the possibility of companies using these biases to conduct marketing.
