This work explores how to use craft upcycling silk waste offcuts. The author's hometown is known for its silk exports, which inspired her research into pre-consumer silk waste.
This project focuses on recycled silk brocade, reconstructing the material through aesthetics and research. The women in modern factories with ancient figures of silk weavers highlight issues of identity in silk production. Juno hopes that this work conveys a unique narrative of recycled materials, enriching the practice of creating with sustainable materials, and evoking reflections on issues of identity in women's labour in the silk industry.
