In the Waterloo Area in London, I designed a series of hidden spaces within everyday scenes, each inspired by unique historical events or artistic elements of the area, built around a specific keyword. These spaces invite exploration through clues and feature abstract symbols that visitors collect as seals after exploring. The seals combine into a pattern, symbolising London Waterloo.
The project had three stages: initial research, in-depth analysis of target audiences and locations, and detailed design refinement. Inspired by my personal experience of “serendipity”— unexpected, joyful moments that bring positive energy— I aimed to explore and convey this feeling through spaces. By combining experiments and spatial design, I sought to trigger moments of serendipity. The final result is five unique serendipity spaces integrated into a regionwide treasure hunt. Promotional posters will invite the public to join, discovering the hidden spaces and collecting symbolic patterns.
