Xinxuan Bi

The work of Sensorial Garment explores the interaction of sensory experience and traces of memories. When unconscious memories are elicited by sensory experience, we are given fleeting moments of recognition. The repetition and layering of these moments create a process through which we reencounter our original memories from a new perspective. This fragmentary dissolution and subsequent reconstruction of the self may give rise to a more vivid and enduring sense of identity. This work serves as an interface between the inner and outer worlds, where sensation acts as both trigger and container for memory.
