My FMP aims to explore the visual impact of seahorse reproduction in the context of human and maternal bodies. My inspiration comes from the animal world, translating patterns, colours, and shapes from seahorses visually through textiles to create a speculative fantasy world that goes against human biology. Furthermore, I also looked at the social impacts of inverting male and female roles during pregnancy in my research, similar to that of how seahorses reproduce at it is the males that goes through pregnancy.
My process heavily focuses on making and looking at fashion through a textiles lens. In my final outcome, I utilised processes such as knit, smocking, crochet, and fabric manipulation.
