3 Anchors, Pedal and Targets

Will Love

Profile picture of Will Love

Will Love (Newcastle-upon-Tyne), is a London based artist whose work is made up of objects of weight and objects that carry weight. Engaging in CAD design processes, he translates his digital works through traditional object-making: gilding, casting, welding. He makes sculptures exploring the accelerated industrial shift, and the relentless drive towards a supposed post-capitalism at the expense of quality and the environment. He does this using by iconoclastically remaking institutional objects like church pews and school fountains in base materials – steel, concrete, OSB, soap, plastics, in confluence with richer interventions, gold leaf, bronze & velvet.

In this presentation of work, Love provides an abridged collection of his practice; 3 Anchors, Pedal & Targets are a collection of objects relating to the inertia of modern life. 3 Anchors, an attempt at slowing down, undermined by its material. Targets, a shooting range squashed underneath 3 Anchors, denied its opportunity to provide spectacle, exists only as an image. Pedal, a stationary armement of a car, fabricated in bronze is held to the wall.

Thanks to the generous support of Stephenson Group Ltd this project was made possible using their Melt & Pour Crystal Glycerine Soap.
