My project focuses on the renovation of St. Dunstan-in-the-East Church in London, a site that has witnessed centuries of history, including the Great Fire of London in 1666 and the bombings of World War II in 1941. Currently, the church has been reduced to a centuries-old ruin. During Units 1 and 2 of the research phase, I delved deeply into the memory of materials and the experimental application of reclaimed materials, laying a methodological foundation for future renovation projects. Moving into Unit 3, I began conducting modular spatial design experiments. These experiments aim to demonstrate how temporary spatial structures can enhance architectural sustainability and imbue the site with spiritual and heritage value, evoking collective memory and national identity. My research revolves around these concepts, seeking innovative solutions for the renovation of St. Dunstan-in-the-East.
