Urban Traces

Summary

Final work

My work often takes inspiration from the built environment, cultural memory, and everyday objects. My work is rooted in observing how architecture and urban details, usually overlooked, form a connection to daily life and the cultural identity embedded within our surroundings.

When you look at these works, what do you see? Tradition? Modernity? By allowing for a quiet resilience to be found in everyday materials, Tsz Kin’s work embodies the adaptability of Hong Kong architecture. Each piece becomes a wearable reflection of the city and what it represents. Drawing from the makeshift yet sturdy nature of bamboo scaffolding (now being phased out), his work embraces impermanence and transformation. By highlighting Hong Kong’s cultural essence, Tsz Kin allows us to embrace the reinvention of what these pieces represent, making each piece not just jewellery but a fragment of history.
