This costume represents the gentle, familiar form of the North Wind from George MacDonald’s 1871 story At the Back of the North Wind. Crafted from silk dupion and silk mousseline, it blends elements of fantasy with historical cutting. The tailoring is inspired by 1870s-era bodices, combining period detail with imaginative interpretation. Throughout its creation, various methods including dyeing, embroidery, and appliqué were explored. Designed for a younger audience, the piece aims to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a sense of wonder.
