This project originates from my personal interest in the relationship between humans and nature, and how that connection resonates with broader contemporary concerns. In recent years, I’ve become increasingly aware of the calming and restorative influence that nature, especially plants—has on my emotional well-being. Reflecting on past experiences, I realize that moments spent hiking away from the city or simply gazing at the plants on my table have offered a much needed pause from the fast-paced rhythm of urban life. These small interactions with nature have provided space to reset, recharge, and breathe amidst overwhelming daily responsibilities.

As cities expand and technology advances, many of us experience a growing disconnection from the natural world, whether due to environmental degradation or the physical and emotional distance created by urban living. We are often consumed by work-centered lifestyles, burdened by social and personal pressures. In response, this project seeks to explore the evolving relationship between humans and nature, specifically through the lens of houseplants and the increasing popularity of plant ownership among younger generations.

My goal is to investigate the psychological and emotional bonds people form with plants and how these connections contribute to well-being, mindfulness, and even identity. I also want to highlight the subtle sense of care and responsibility that comes with bringing greenery into our spaces, and how this act can ground us in an otherwise disconnected environment. Ultimately, Escape is intended to serve as a visual and emotional breath of fresh air, a gentle reminder of the essential role nature plays in our lives and the simple joy it can offer, even in small doses.
