I am a Pakistani artist based in London, currently focusing on mixed media.

Previously, I was unable to pursue my passion professionally after completing my school education so it became a part time hobby. My project explores the theme of structure and rhythm through object and paint.

In my first work I split the wood panel into clearly differentiated parts and allowed paint and colour to dictate where the structure would be maintained and where it would be broken. Much like when a song has a beat and chord but will deviate from the main structure to give auditory interest except here, we have visual interest.

Further exploration especially in the second work led me to use scales and measurement tools as inspiration to explore the male gendered nature of architecture and engineering through measurement. This is contrasted by the rhythm in the wood highlighted as slightly uneven lines relating to mother nature.

Final work

The work has been developed by using small pieces of recycled wood to express how building and structures blend with nature.
