Profile picture of Suki Zhang
I am a fashion communicator and a visual artist engaged with issues of the body, feminism, class, and identity. I work across multiple media—especially photography, publications, and set design—to creatively express the lived experiences of marginalized individuals and address social concerns. Next year I will be studying BA Fashion Communication Image and Promotion at Central Saint Martens.

This interactive installation visualises censorship through a sealed archive-like box. Viewers may choose to open it or observe through a controlled aperture. Inside, images unfold in three stages: before, after, and under censorship. Paired with a publication, the work reflects on access, control, and visibility. Using the metaphor of a security scanner, it asks: who controls what we see—and what remains hidden beyond authorised frames?

Final work

  • A box with a round hole at the front.
  • The five sides of the box have text as part of the publication except for the bottom side.
The left and right sides of the box can be opened like a archive bag.

The left and right sides of the box can be opened like an archive bag. Inside the box are images and a security machine that symbolises censorship. Viewers can choose whether to open the box and look beyond the censorship, or stay within its limits.

Both sides opened.
The box is like a small exhibition that viewers can interact with, like a hands-on experience of censorship.

Research and process

  • Details of the Censorship Box
  • Inside the box is a security checker that symbolises censorship.
  • Images Before Censorship
  • Images after censorship.
  • Images-the round-hole view.
