# Project Description To Be King Stéfan Weil Summary Final work Bringing an attitude -forward mix of edge and polish, Stefan translates the atmosphere of his music-photography roots into commercially focused fashion and brand imagery. Refined through years of assisting on commercial shoots, he creates work that feels lived-in, yet impeccably produced. He keeps his subjects bold and present within his scenes, working to bring out the very best in his subjects and place front and centre of his storytelling, giving them autonomy and agency in his frames. College London College of Communication Course MA Commercial Photography Graduation year 2025 In his project To Be King, Weil reimagines People of Colour as the knights of British legend. Drawing from his experiences growing up in England, he explores what it means to belong in a country that exploits your culture and questions your identity. Through symbols embedded in the stories and media of his childhood, he examines who is allowed to embody Britishness. By reframing traditional icons of pride and power to include those who have long been unseen in the place they call home, Stéfan reflects the hopes of his parents and their belief in a mixed and unified future. Final work To Be King This image, shot on medium format and displayed ' King Sized ', brings together both sides of my mixed identity, the British in the shape of the Knight, and the Ghanaian in the form of the flag. It is meant to be a reflection that no matter what battles I face or who I fight for, I will always carry my roots with me.
