Attraverso me

Sole Sconciaforni

Summary

Final work

My name embodies the essence of who I strive to be each day, both for myself and those around me. Because of my Italian heritage, I have a profound appreciation for quality craftsmanship and raw textures. This passion drives my creative process and my dedication to the art of making. Growing up in Rome in a family-owned teenage fashion company, I developed a keen eye for quality textures and trends. This early exposure fueled my passion for clothes, extending beyond the family business to the more extravagant and innovative realms of the industry.

I aspire to express and expand my creativity fully using the body as a medium to make a significant impact through my unique vision and ideas. I like to think of clothes as a neutral charge between the physical (the body) and the spiritual (our surroundings) that can transmit and exchange impulses from both sides

In this collection, I aim to unfold the multifaceted nature of Rome, revealing aspects of her character that I find deeply relatable to my own experiences and identity. This collection is built on the paradox that lies between the control and release of these tensions. I've explored different techniques that allow the fabric to unravel. Some will look more restrictive and tense while still being rigorously constructed; others will expand beyond the body and allow fabrics the freedom of flow whilst in movement leading the body to feel more liberated as well. Indeed, I explored garments being stuck in other fabrics and took this further by creating a layering technique where the body feels absorbed and immersed by the fabric. I am also interested in expressing Romes's sarcasm and enthusiasm for life. By immortalizing simple daily activities or objects in my designs, I hope to create a distorted dialogue between past and present, where the viewer almost feels a limbo, as shapes from the past merge into present silhouettes and textures are trapped in our daily lives.

From displaying forms, textures, colours and more, that feel and look familiar I aim to create a distorted experience to challenge the perception of our surroundings with the aim to inform a brighter and more exciting future.
