Course BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear

Graduation year 2025

This collection explores the emotional tension between childhood vulnerability and the need for security and control. Drawing from my longing for a private, enclosed space filled with comfort and familiarity, I translated this psychological landscape into garments that balance exposure and protection. Each piece reflects a desire to define personal boundaries within shifting emotional spaces through curved constructions, deconstructed uniform elements, and adaptive collar designs. The Showcase becomes a soft, structured, and quietly introspective spatial dialogue between body and memory.

Final work

Folded Silence

A structured black jacket with a protective high collar and curved front seams is paired with sculptural brown balloon trousers. Inspired by architectural forms and childhood notions of personal space, this look explores the emotional tension between control, vulnerability, and comfort.

Split Front, Sheltered Form

This look explores symmetry and psychological exposure through a split-front shirt that mirrors itself on both sides. The deep front opening reveals the body with intentional restraint, creating a controlled sense of vulnerability. The outer layer, inspired by the protective structure of an umbrella, features a cape-like overlay that drapes across the shoulders, evoking a sense of shelter and uniformity. The black trousers incorporate curved overlays, continuing the dialogue between structure and softness. Together, the layers suggest a negotiation between revealing and shielding — a tension central to emotional and spatial self-definition.

Soft Armor

This look explores the shifting relationship between protection and exposure. A structured grey wool coat with a sculptural curved lapel wraps the body in a sense of controlled formality. Beneath, a black top with an open back reveals a striking vulnerability, offering a quiet contrast. The double-layered wide denim trousers introduce movement and softness, with the outer layer swaying gently as the wearer walks. Together, the pieces negotiate between rigidity and fluidity, transforming the body into a site of both concealment and quiet revelation.

Grey Echoes

This look features grey tailored suit trousers with a distinctive furry hem that adds playful texture and depth. The white shirt underneath showcases a unique double-layered lapel design, bringing architectural interest to the chest. The blazer is sharply tailored with fashionable slits at the back of the sleeves, creating movement and refined detail. The look blends modern sophistication with a touch of whimsy.
