# Project Description SPIRIT (Libation) Vessel Sean Dendere Summary Final work Sean Dendere is a multidisciplinary designer/artist from Peterborough via Zimbabwe and living in London. College Central Saint Martins Course BA (Hons) Product and Industrial Design Graduation year 2023 "Ceremonial Artefact: Spirit Vessel": a fusion of symbolism and spirituality. This Vessel pays homage to the Shona, Bantu peoples' sacred rituals and the African/Caribbean diaspora, forging a dialogue to our ancestral heritage. Distinguished by its innovative design, the Spirit Vessel features a spherical base that intentionally employs instability/imbalance. This feauture symbolically represents the physical pouring gesture during the Ritual of Libation. The lid of the Vessel is made out of Rammed Earth collected from my local area of Islington, inspired by bioregionalism and localism whilst honouring African material culture. Complementing the Spirit Vessel is the captivating film 'No Shoes Inside.' This cinematic masterpiece offers an abstract and intimate exploration of auto-ethnographic research, delving into the concept of 'Collective Unconcious' and the modern interpretation of ancestral rituals. SPIRIT Vessel: Hand Sculpted Version Before articulating my design on 3D CAD softwares, I hand-built a model to understand and communciate the proportions and features of my design. GIF (click me) ‘No Shoes Inside’ is a semi-autobiographical exploration of how people interact with the ideas of home, ancestral memory, and rituals through cinematic interpretation of the auto-ethnographic research conducted for my dissertation.
