# Project Description Hemp For Hope Scarlet watkins Summary Final work I am a multi-media artist from London, using photography and screen printing to develop textile designs, working with natural dyes and a 100% hemp fabric. I am creating a slow circular design system foraging for food and floral waste collected from local cafes, florists and restaurants to create natural dye baths and screen printing pigments. Through this process, I am opening a dialogue on sustainability and what we can do in our local communities to contribute to positive change and a green design future. HEMP FOR HOPE! College Chelsea College of Arts Course MA Textile Design Graduation year 2025 Hemp For Hope This investigation explores the versatility of hemp fibres alongside natural dyes and traditional craft practices to reimagine a more sustainable Textile Design future. The project uses photography and screen-printing with natural inks and dyes derived from food and floral waste to illustrate the versatility and range of colour from nature. These inherently slow methods are reshaping forgotten processes and contributing to a more holistic and organic approach to design. The photographs of hemp and CBD products, as well as the molecular structure of the plant’s chemical constituents, have been the building blocks for the designs. Final work Hemp Oil 15cm x 15cm 100% Hemp Denim sample dyed with Eucalyptus, screen printed using natural printing inks. The design is my photographic image of Hemp oil. I was exploring a range of Hemp products using photography to illustrate the diversity of the Hemp plant and how it can help us build a sustainable design future. CBD oil. 15cm x 15cm 100% Hemp Linen sample dyed with Eucalyptus, screen printed using natural printing inks. The design is my photographic image of Hemp/CBD oil. I was exploring a range of Hemp products using photography to illustrate the diversity of the Hemp plant and how it can help us build a sustainable design future. Chemical constituents of hemp 15cm x 15cm 100% Hemp Linen sample dyed with Avocado , screen printed using natural printing inks. The design is from the molecular structure of CBD/THC. I was exploring a range of Hemp products using illustrations of the chemical constituents of hemp to explore the difference between Hemp and Cannabis as they are both from the Cannabis Sativa family. Untitled, 2025. A range of 100% Hemp Samples Denim and Linen dyed with Eucalyptus and Avocado, screen printed with my own natural printing inks.
