I am fascinated by elements of stillness and rhythm, how the two coexist in the human form and throughout nature. Recently I have been consumed by observing humankinds’ relationship to our natural environment.

‘Grounding’ explores the practice of connecting with the earth. For centuries humans have been deeply intertwined within the natural environment, however in western society there is a growing disconnect. This separation between our mind, bodies, and earth is deleterious. For my final project I wanted to immerse myself in uncovering fading remedies and knowledge surrounding the resources the earth provides us. I gained this knowledge through delving into scientific studies, Traditional Chinese Medicine, indigenous practices and my own bloodline.

I am intrigued by the work of Diana Scherer and Zena Holloway. Both of these practitioners use the growth of wheat grass to create textiles. I used this approach as a source of inspiration by creating the final outcome out of foliage, wheatgrass roots and home made paper.
