I made stoneware slip-cast bowls that can be used for cooking, baking and eating from. The surface design was inspired by the process of growing wheat, from planting seeds, to harvesting and milling. The wavy edge evokes hills, and serves the practical purpose of helping scrape off the fronts and backs of spoons. I chose to make them out of clay to reinforce the connection between food and the earth. I wanted my user to be conscious of where their food came from and enjoy the farm-to-table journey. I designed them to stack as a space-efficient set for one person.
