College UAL Creative Computing Institute Course UAL Diploma in Creative Computing Graduation year 2025 How can graphic design, as investigation and translation, make visible the supposed neutrality of hardware? This research investigates the role of agricultural drones in the Kamal Adwan Hospital Siege in Gaza, interrogating how hardware becomes entangled with systems of militarisation. It explores arms transfers, machine vision, and open-source investigation to trace these entanglements. The widespread and poorly regulated availability of weapons facilitates violations of international humanitarian law and hinders the delivery of assistance to victims. The adaptation of improvised hardware is further intensifying the proliferation of arms. This work initiates a broader inquiry into the ethics of open-source hardware, asking how these technologies might be repurposed and misused.
