The ongoing redevelopment projects in Elephant & Castle like the Shopping Centre redevelopment project are causing small, independent vendors of mostly Latin American and Caribbean backgrounds to be relocated from their decades-long workspaces. This results in a loss of visibility and customer connections for many local vendors and causes a loss of cultural memory in the area on a larger scale. Additionally, the gentrification of Elephant & Castle has brought in newer, wealthier residents who might not be aware of these local vendors and their new locations.

Thus, "Mapping The Centre" aims to create an cohesive and interactive map showcasing the new locations of the former Shopping Centre traders. Additionally, using multimedia elements like videos, images and voice recordings, this project also attempts to preserve the stories of the Shopping Centre from the traders themselves.

A two pane interface where the right side has an interactive 2D Map of the Elephant and Castle area highlighted with current locations of former Shopping Centre Traders, mostly in Elephant Arcade, Castle Square and Ash Avenue marked on it.

The left side has a cohesive list of former shopping centre traders that allows users to search and view traders without having to use the map.
