Abundance

Renee Stewart

Summary

Final work

Renee is a graphic designer who creates work that aims to evoke feelings of nostalgia and emotional resonance. Her practice explores the intersections of culture, identity, and representation. With a deep appreciation for photography, archival materials, and graphic ephemera, she repurposes and reimagines these elements as storytelling tools, examining the relationship between past and present. Her love for tactility informs work that spans publications, digital media, and textiles.

Abundance celebrates the cultural significance of food within Caribbean culture, exploring how it serves as a vessel for preserving identity across generations. As a third-generation Caribbean born in the UK, food has been the closest connector to my Dominican and Jamaican heritage. It has always grounded me, serving as a comforting reminder of where I’m from.

Through a blend of photography, archival imagery, collage and interviews, I keep tactility at the core of my visual language, creating a rich, multidimensional narrative that speaks to both personal memory and collective history. Abundance is more than just a publication; it is a space to honour the richness of Caribbean culture and to amplify voices that are often unheard. It invites readers to pause, reflect, and find resonance within their own stories of food, identity and belonging.
