Reclaiming Space

Within my practice, I like to reframe historical context in contemporary spaces. For this project, I explored how spaces and individuals influence one another, defining the body as a vessel and the garment as our first inhabited space. Using the crinoline as a metaphor for women’s historical restrictions, I reinterpreted it to ironically take up space. I aim to question societal norms by examining how historical politics still shape today’s world. Fashion must reflect evolving interpretations, and as designers, we hold the responsibility to create livable futures—drawing on history as a source of lessons we must not forget.
