This project investigates the intersection of spatial and social injustice through the lens of youth homelessness in Newham, London’s most affected borough. Situated on a brownfield site in Beckton, two proposed Toolsheds and a surrounding landscape of remediation challenge dominant development narratives by exploring ways to reconnect young people with land. By examining the roles of the charity, government, and property development, the project proposes a cross-sector communication framework grounded in a youth hub that empowers 18–24-year-olds with the skills, connections and agency to reclaim urban land at risk of misuse, fostering community, stability, and ecological repair to help prevent and break cycles of homelessness.
