Dressing and undressing are among the most intimate rituals of human life. They are repetitive and ordinary, yet deeply transformative. Dressing Papers, is conceived as an exploration of these moments of transition: the act of putting clothes onto the body and the act of removing them again. Clothing and makeup are not viewed merely as practical necessities, but as extensions of identity, as tools of labor, protection, expression, concealment and revelation. Each garment is both material and metaphorical, existing in the liminal space between self and society.
The inaugural issue focuses on the process of ‘getting ready’ as a moment that is sensory, psychological and performative. To dress is to layer identity. Like the act of dressing oneself, creating a magazine means layering narratives, images and voices into something cohesive and meaningful.
