College Central Saint Martins Course BA (Hons) Graphic Communication Design Graduation year 2025 A guerrilla-style design intervention that is quietly installed across university spaces. Disguised as a fire extinguisher, EX-ANGUISHER offers emotional support in unexpected corners of campus—on a library shelf, beside a studio sink, on the back of a toilet cubicle door, or simply at a table passed on the way to class. Each pocket tissue contains a scorched black card, revealing an anonymous survival phrase only when tilted toward the light. These quiet messages remind students: if someone else has made it through, so can you. A QR code on each card links to a growing digital archive: https://www.ex-anguisher.com/ —a space where everyone can read and share messages of endurance. Rooted in ritual theory, Gen Z digital culture, and cross-cultural care practices, the project reframes design not as a fix but as a gentle witness to emotions too subtle for diagnosis, yet no less worthy of recognition. In case of fire—on your head or in your heart—stay. The heat will pass. What stays is worth staying for. Final work INSTRUCTION This quiet ritual begins with a simple act. Follow each step to uncover a message left by someone who made it through. A gesture of care—for you, or for someone else who might need it.
