# Project Description Silent Pulse Qingfeng Huang Summary Final work I'm a BSc Creative Computing graduate from the UAL with a 1st. My work bridges art, technology, and design, focusing on human-AI Interaction and environmental data. My graduation project, Slience Pulse, turns real-time plant bio-electrical signals into immersive audio-visual experiences using Arduino, Python, and TouchDesigner. I've contributed to FreeCodeCamp and P5.js, and joined like Hawei's Tech Arena and IF Design Award. I'm preparing for an MPhil in Human-Inspired AI at Cambridge I'm a BSc Creative Computing graduate from the UAL with a 1st. My work bridges art, technology, a... College UAL Creative Computing Institute Course BSc (Hons) Creative Computing Graduation year 2025 Silence Pulse is an artistic exploration that captures the real-time bioelectrical signals of a living plant and translates them into an immersive audio-visual experience. By revealing the hidden vitality and agency of plants, the project invites individuals to attune to the non-human world and reflect on the beings we often overlook or those who communicate in unfamiliar ways. This is not just about ecological balance, it also addresses how we perceive the "other" in our world. This project uses an Arduino device with two electrode clips to capture bioelec-trical signals from living plant and convert them into MIDI notes. These signals are processed in Python to produce sound. A virtual plant, mod-elled in Blender, is then animated in TouchDe-signer, where sound-driven particles respond to the plant's real-time activity. This project explores how zoocentric bias and limited human perception have caused plants to be seen as passive and statics in cultural stories, leading to their neglect in science, policy, and conser-vation. By converting the real-time bioelectrical signals of living plants into sound and visuals, the work makes plant vitality perceptible. It invites viewers into a multisensory experience that encourages emotional connection and em-phasises the ecological agency of plants.
