15-love is a capsule knitwear collection revitalising manual craft and traditional knitwear techniques no longer present in sportswear. My research journey circled around the rich fibre history of luxury sportswear, the socio-economic catalysts of the 80s casual movement and the modern existence of queerness in athleisure and sporting couture. The visuals are an obvious extension of my own wardrobe and acts a personal exploration of aesthetics, perfectionism and sporting/knitwear mimickery.
This collection includes and demonstrates developed hand craft techniques such as Tunisian and Filet crochet, Leather lacework and lattice cable work. 'Striped structure' fabrics explore technical combinations on Dubied and Domestic and Intarsia and Hunza Jacquard work were developed and programmed using Stoll.
Notable yarns in my collection were British Wools, RWS Virg.Merino Wools, GRS Cool Jade TM Cotton, Silk Linen and Viscose blend (LENZING TM X ECOVERO TM X REFIBRA TM) along with donated and deadstock lycra, polyesters and leather.
With thanks to British Wool, The Textile Society, The Backward Vendor and UPW for the support with my final collection.
