Olena Kovalevych

The [Carrier] is an exhaustive visual and material study of carrier bags—an everyday object so common it often goes unnoticed. Presented as a publication, it investigates the overlooked aesthetics and cultural roles of bags found in our homes, shops, and streets. The project explores their forms, typefaces, symbols, colours, materials, and typologies, while also tracing their historical context and evolving functions. Through methods of typology, documentation, categorisation, and reflection, the [Carrier] repositions the carrier bag as a meaningful design artefact—both mundane and iconic.
