‘Yes Build’ encourages the youth of Somers Town to explore different ways of learning by being fun but also a way to develop their skills which schools cannot offer. The aim is to provide spaces of escape from the reality of schools and adult controlled cities. The project identifies the importance to foster young people an interactive and collaborative approach that encourages the practice of hands-on 3D making and creative form of learning, in order to promote experimentation and problem-solving skills. Consideration of the platform of young people and ensuring that their voices are heard in a way that is supported by the community, professionals and creatives.

‘Yes Build’ response to sustainability is from its use of materiality with the main use of glulam. Glulam is also a sustainable option as the embodied energy of it is much lower than most alternate construction materials such as concrete and steel.

Bicycle tyres is also used as shreds that is reused as roof cladding material. Bicycle tyres are a huge problem of the way it is disposed. Tyres are getting thrown away in landfills, lakes, streams, woods, towns and roadsides. This contributes to the chemical pollution on land, water and air. These efficient materials are not only used on the proposal but also taught as part of the programming to the youth, on the different ways to build sustainably.
