Dotting Dreams: Flowers and Drama

Nishimatsu Megumi

My name is Megumi Nishimatsu, a Japanese designer raised in China. My work is shaped by a deep appreciation for both Chinese and Japanese traditional crafts, which I reinterpret through contemporary textile print design.

I draw inspiration from nature and cultural symbolism, aiming to bridge the gap between heritage and modern fashion. My creative approach combines traditional craftsmanship with digital and experimental techniques, allowing me to develop original prints that are both meaningful and wearable.

Through my designs, I strive to revive traditional aesthetics in a way that resonates with today’s audience.

Explores the vivid intersection between traditional Chinese opera and the delicate beauty of botanical life. Through a blend of realistic painting, bold pop art, and the playful spirit of polka dots inspired by Yayoi Kusama, this collection reimagines cultural heritage with contemporary expression. The patterns and facial masks on traditional opera costumes intertwine with blooming flowers, symbolizing a dialogue between the ephemeral nature of performance and the eternal cycle of life. Each print is a stage where tradition blossoms into modernity, evoking both nostalgia and innovation.
