we can’t ignore our mothers and their mothers, and their mothers. Their stories, their lives, their struggles and being a pillar of this community. Re-defining , re shaping with their roots and histories. The starting point is Pahurat, little India. A textile market area where most Thai-Indian families would settle start their businesses selling fabrics and Indian-ware clothes.

I made a series of illustration that depict the lives of the women I have interviewed in my community. Each one of them has their own stories to share. Whether that be a mother giving her daughter the fan or a young student working at her family textile shop. The ceramics are a recreational place of Pahurat , with me looking over the place as a reflection of my roots, and how that has shaped who I am and the younger generations whose mothers and their mother sacrifices made and shaped their community.

Let’s go back to where it all began

My illustrations portray the lives of Thai-Indian women in Pahurat ,Bangkok’s Little India, where many Indian families settled after migrating to Thailand. This first edition celebrates their strength and presence, highlighting how these women serve as the pillars of their community.

I explores the multifaceted roles they play, as mothers, daughters, sisters, and individuals with their own unique stories. Each piece captures everyday moments filled with meaning, such as a mother handing her daughter a fan while managing a fabric stall, or a young girl carrying bolts of colorful textiles. These visual narratives aim to empower and honor the women who quietly shape the heart of their community.
