As we step into our adult lives, it’s important to look back at the individuals that helped raise us - but what about the ones we didn’t even consider? ‘It Takes a Village’ is about acknowledging the characters we grew up with in stories and the impact they had on us, because they have a bigger impact than you think. By using Khandelwal’s study on the impact of cartoons on development as my foundation for this project, I have explored the impact certain characters have and how this information can be used and applied to us to become better adults.

    Final work

A website design with the characters from Winnie the Pooh floating around the page. There is a space to express concerns as well as access to a blog.

Having A Pooh Day?- The Agony Aunt Website

This website design for an online 'Agony Aunt' that incorporates the characters from Winnie the Pooh into the design as a way of creating a safe space for people to express their concerns as they are surrounded by the characters that comforted them throughout their childhoods.

An A5 publication, illustrated in the playful style of a children's book to contrast it's more serious message and features a pastel colour palette.

Tigers Don't Just Come For Tea

A publication based on Judith Kerr's 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea' in which the story is retold to teach adults about the dangers that they face as they get older and the different 'tigers' that they could encounter.

Three posters that each use digital collaging to intertwine a character within the human head.

    Poster Series

A series of posters which each explore a different children's book ('The Rainbow Fish', 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea', 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar') and how they and the lessons they taught us are ingrained within us.
