# Project Description A Discomforting Need Neethu Pillai Summary Final work I'm a UK artist exploring tactility and texture through the lens of Fashion, Textiles and Photography. My work drives from emotions and understanding complexity's relating to the human mind and experiences. Indulging in newfound skills and art forms connecting to the audience is what excites me. College School of Pre-Degree Studies Course UAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Design Graduation year 2025 The project titled ‘A Discomforting Need’ is a personal pursuit centring around moving out of my childhood home after 18 years, a turmoil I am currently going through, this isn’t just about the physical house but including my family as well. Consisting of my parents, siblings, grandparent, uncle, aunt and cousins we all lived together- it was never two separate families. With the discomfort of not having enough space as we grew older it’s come to realisation of how long we’ve been in the same house together. It was time to move out… becoming two separate nuclear family’s. This project explores an unknowing fluctuation of my mental thoughts and to cope with this new quietness. Embracing a collection of textiles techniques emerging from primary collages and carrying special pieces from my old house, like ripping the wallpaper and extracting the floral prints as my initial development for my prints. Thus showcasing an essence of navigation to finding tranquillity within this difficult shift.
