Eco-Living on Water

As an aspiring architect, I am intrigued by the concept of sustainability and how we can reduce the waste we create. From material selection to energy efficiency, I believe architects have a critical role to play in shaping a more sustainably built environment. I hope to carry this natural sense of responsibility with me as I progress onto BA Architecture.

This proposal aims to support the canal boat residents of Kings’ Cross by introducing a sustainable energy hub along Regent’s Canal. Powered by solar panels, the hub offers a clean, renewable energy source to recharge canal boats, reducing reliance on traditional fuels. The design features an indoor space, functioning as a community recycling centre, where locals can drop off old belongings and others are free to take what they need, encouraging a culture of reuse and exchange. By combining green energy with sustainable living practices, the hub becomes a vital communal space in the heart of Kings' Cross.
