# Project Description Pixels + Portraits: Masculinity In The Digital Era Mina Palladino Summary Final work College London College of Fashion Course BA (Hons) Fashion Photography Graduation year 2025 This body of work does not aim to reconstruct masculinity, but rather to serve as a reflective checkpoint, an observation of where young masculinity currently stands in the wake of hyper connectivity and digital immersion. Through the lens of fashion photography, this series interrogates the subtle ways in which identity, self perception, and boyhood are reshaped by the omnipresence of screens and the aesthetics of online life. Set in outdoor spaces historically tied to freedom and physical play, the work introduces jarring elements from the digital realm from game consoles, projectors, screens, and artificial light. These interventions create surreal landscapes where organic and digital worlds coexist, glitching into one another. The natural world becomes a canvas for digital imagery, mirroring how the adolescent male psyche is now mediated, if not entirely constructed, through filtered perception, performative presence, and algorithmic influence. Informed by my professional work within the New Faces division of modelling agencies, this project is also a study of becoming. It captures the fragile in betweenness of young men whose identities are still forming, yet are already being crafted for consumption. It asks: what happens to boyhood when exposure replaces exploration, and when screens become the new mirrors?
