# Project Description As Time Goes By Mia Coakley Summary Final work My name is Mia Coakley and I am a freelance hair, makeup and prosthetic artist, as well as a wig maker based in and around London. I am soon to graduate from London College of Fashion completing a BA (Hons) in Hair, Makeup and Prosthetics for Pertormance. I am a confident, results driven and resourceful individual, with a creative vision. My natural artistic instincts together with my training in both media and special effects prosthetics arms me with the tools to be able to adapt to any situation. My personal and flexible approach allows me to collaborate very well within a team and equally as a solo make up artist. My commercial background also gives me the ability to be current and on trend with the latest technologies in make up and skin care as they evolve. I work well under pressure and can adapt quickly to changing situations that often occur on set or behind the scenes. I am a passionate artist that will always achieve the best outcome no matter the circumstances. I am looking to work with other dynamic artists and feel that I will be an asset to any organization. College London College of Fashion Course BA (Hons) Hair, Make-up and Prosthetics for Performance Graduation year 2025 For my Final Major Project, I created a piece that explored the emotional and evolving relationship between a mother and daughter, told through the medium of prosthetics and makeup artistry. The narrative began with a woman in the final stages of pregnancy and followed the progression of both mother and daughter as they grew and changed physically, emotionally, and relationally. Makeup and prosthetic work played a central role in illustrating the passage of time and the transformation of both characters. I moulded, created and painted both a pregnancy belly and life size baby head out of silicone. I created subtle ageing techniques to reflect the early years, gradually incorporating more advanced prosthetics to show the effects of time on the mother. As the daughter aged, I employed character makeup to subtly convey her transition from childhood to adulthood and, eventually, motherhood herself. This project was deeply personal, drawing inspiration from my own relationship with my mother. It allowed me to explore not only emotional storytelling but also the techniques of using prosthetic and makeup effects to support a narrative. The process strengthened my ability to convey time, emotion, and character development purely through visual transformation.
