Humanity’s search for extraterrestrial intelligence (CETI) has long been driven by the hope of encountering life beyond Earth and decoding alien forms of communication. Yet, in 2025, as AI systems rapidly reshape language and cognition, our definitions of life and otherness are shifting. Echoes of an Alien Mindscape reflects this urgency, questioning whether our search for extraterrestrials is truly outward—or a mirror back onto ourselves.
The E.T. Concert uses large language models (LLMs) to simulate speculative alien linguistics, processing human voice inputs in real-time into unfamiliar harmonies and resonant structures. Through live vocoder processing, sound synthesis, and AI-driven melodic construction, the project generates evolving sonic dialogues between humans and a fictional Alpha Centauri civilization. The outputs are not static messages but adaptive, ambiguous compositions that embody the instability of interspecies communication.
The concert unfolds as a live experiment where humans and "aliens" attempt to bridge a cognitive gap through sound alone. Neither fully understands the other, yet both participate in the creation of a shared sonic mindscape. In doing so, Echoes of an Alien Mindscape asks: are we discovering alien intelligence—or inventing new ways of imagining ourselves?
