" He would tell certain stories but if you asked him a question about those stories, he couldn’t answer. He wouldn’t deviate from the exact wording. He would use the same wording every time. He’d tell me stories about a lemonade factory that one of his relatives worked in or owned. But anything you asked about the factory he couldn’t tell you. Or he’d tell me the same story about him and his father leaving synagogue and people would cut beards off the men. But if you asked where the synagogue was, or who they used to go with, he couldn’t tell you " ... After discovering I have no ethnic connection to the UK, I began to question who I really am. My project explores the juxtaposition between my findings from my trip to Poland through post-Soviet brutalist architecture, and archival footage from during and before the war, in an attempt to discover what happened to my Great-Grandfather's homeland.
