Profile picture of May Ling Tran

I am a London based jewellery artist whose practice sits at the intersection of sculpture, storytelling, and emotional resonance. I am drawn to materials that speak in contrasts, using them to explore the complexities of the human condition. My approach is both intuitive and research-driven, grounded in personal reflection as well as cultural symbolism.

May's collection delves into the interplay of polarising materials, mirroring the complex emotional and physical dynamics of human relationships. The feathers, light and fluid, symbolise movement and change, while the metal – solid and heavy – represents strength and solidity. Through this juxtaposition, May explores the duality of resilience and sensitivity. Her work examines the notion of built defences in relationships, drawing from her personal experience of growing up in an environment where she navigated emotional barriers.
