Hello, my name is Matilda, though I’m known as Milly. Originally from East Sussex, I’m now studying in London. I’ve recently completed a Foundation Diploma at UAL, and this September, I will begin my BA in Fashion Jewellery at the London College of Fashion. Though mainly based in jewellery, I also have a love for sewing and painting, which I occasionally incorporate within my jewellery work.

Our bodies conceal beautiful, living structures underneath our skin. Exploring human anatomy, specifically the complexity of the nervous system, I wanted to create a piece which turned the human anatomy 'inside-out' and showcased the intricate, hidden details of nerves to adorn them externally. Everything we experience is translated through the maps of nerves that span across our bodies, yet we never see them nor celebrate their beauty. For this project, I casted pewter in cuttlebone, as this technique left unique, organic lines and shapes imprinted by the cuttlebone's patterns. Additionally, I wanted to incorporate bones into my creative process to tell my anatomical narrative through my work.

Final work
